They did not want to be noticed, but having come all this way again they wanted another, closer look. Coming closer had its risks, though. Would the rock be up to it?

A comet was a perfectly ordinary object to come hurtling into the solar system, swinging around the sun and then leaving again.

This time astronomers and engineers were perplexed. Why didn’t this trajectory match up with the math for a comet?
